It is with a bittersweet feeling that I share some news with you: Cassava will be closing on Sunday, November 17th. After nearly 13 years as a full-service restaurant offering brunch and dinner, this chapter is coming to a close—but it also marks the beginning of an exciting new direction for us.
Over the years, your support, friendship, and loyalty have meant the world to us. You’ve been with us through so much, and it’s because of the community support, that we were able to create something so special. We’d love to see you in these final days if you’re able to stop by—sharing this time with you would mean everything to us.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to share our plans for the future:
New Takeout-Focused Cafe Kiosk in Jackson Square: We’ll be opening a cafe kiosk in Jackson Square in the Financial District, expected in early 2025. This takeout-focused spot will offer fresh salads, hearty soups, and open-faced sandwiches for guests on the go, led by 25% of our team who are dedicated to bringing this concept to life.
North Beach Restaurant: About 75% of our team will be joining the soon-to-open North Beach Restaurant, where we are consulting on the menu as well as the group and private dining program. North Beach Restaurant is expected to open by the end of this month, and we’d love for you to stop by to see familiar faces there.
Future Dinner-Only Restaurant: In the coming years, we plan to open a dinner-only restaurant under a new brand, driven by Kris’s passion for Nouveau Bistro cuisine and his experience at a three-star restaurant, with Michelin recognition in mind.
Given the current economy in San Francisco, we believe it’s wiser to create smaller units in different market segments rather than running everything in one location. By focusing on this approach, we’re setting a foundation that will help our business grow and thrive over the long term.
While we will deeply miss this location—it was truly a dream come true for us—we are excited for the future of our company and all the opportunities ahead. Thank you for an unforgettable nearly 13 years, and we look forward to welcoming you to our new ventures in the very near future.
